It is not always easy to diagnose internal diseases; however with the latest technology we have at the Barrier Animal Care Clinic, we can achieve a much higher percentage of diagnostic images on the first attempt. This improves our chances of making a diagnosis which is safer for both of our patients and staff.

To read details of the imaging techniques we offer, please click on the link below:

Radiography (X-rays)

x-rays are used for skeletal, thoracic and abdominal  imaging amongst many other uses. With our digital processor we can send images to specialists for reviewing and the BVA/KC Hip and Elbow Dysplasia Scheme.

This allows us to visualise internal structures such as the heart, bladder, liver and kidneys. Based on these images we can use minimally invasive techniques to collect samples for further analysis. We can also provide pregnancy diagnosis.

Both rigid and flexible endoscopy are of particular use for visualising and taking samples from the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems.

Our laboratory services include blood biochemistry (including pre-anaesthetic screening), haematology and urinalysis. We also work closely with certified, external laboratories (IDEXX and Pinmoore) to provide an extended range of diagnostic tests using an overnight courier service.
